Originally written in February, 2004, as a free-association piece for my collection, this story lovingly titled “Miss Tiffany’s Ticket” is the first one I have ever tried to illustrate for the purpose of sharing here.
Back in the day, when Flash was the way to go, I had some fun creating semi-amusing, very uninspiring animations. Here’s one called “How Squirrels Win at Chess”.
Basically, I wanted to post my results, thus far, as I follow a dragon-making tutorial from BlenderCookie.com.
Desperate to publish a post on something that isn’t about Christmas, rabbits or my new haircut, I sat down to think of all the other projects I’m working on so I could report here and get you excited! Well, get prepared to be disappointed, everyone.
Many moons ago, I attempted to animate a cartoon, by hand, frame by frame, using Flash. That may sound like a lot of fun, but you can understand now why there isn’t a finished project. Truth told, for my money, it simply wasn’t going to be good enough.
In search of birds, and preferably the larger kind like herons and egrets, I visited the San Juaqin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine on Sunday, at about midday.
The following is a brief FAQ section I put together in case anyone wanted further details about my current work on the “Christmas Spectacular” animation. If you have any questions not listed here, feel free to add them to the comments section at the bottom and I’ll answer them there.
Constantly, I’m thinking of my next film or animation. I love special effects, cagey characters, offbeat storylines and sarcastic dialogue. And while the professionals reinvent the wheel and set the bar to the next level.
Just for shits and giggles, and in terms of using Blender 3D to expand my portfolio, I started to learn how to model human heads. Of course, I’ve done a couple cartoon characters, but never anything that looked like something.
The kids were drawing squirrels one day while here at the office. I drew my own version, too. My terrible habit, which is totally psychological, is to doodle on pieces of scrap paper instead of in my brand new, awesome sketch book because what if it sucks? Then it’s in my book forever!!
Moving full steam ahead on my next animated 3d short, to be part of the LetsMakeMovies2010 film project (yeah.. I think we’re still doing that!), I finally settled on a film idea that is going to challenge me like none other to this point.
I’ve had Twitter on my mind over the past month or so, both in terms of tweeting my random, inane thoughts directly on twitter and using it as a promotional tool for this blog on. The random, inane thoughts part works like a charm!
The latter needs a few tweaks.
David Allen Ward posted another Blender 3D tutorial focusing on creating a grassy hillside using UV mapping and a barky, leafy tree using python scripts. I’m sure he put allot of work and thought into this.
There are probably about five people on the planet, including myself, who have been waiting a very long time to see my completed film, “von bloch”. I have good news and bad news.
It all started when I worked in a big chain video rental store (when all we rented were VHS movies – I can laugh about that now because they paid me to rent those things to people, and dear readers, YOU paid money to rent them so stop laughing!).
I never thought this would be easy. Or fun. But I definitely wanted to complete an animated sequence longer than 20 seconds. “Bobi and the Lollipop” is a wee bit over 2 minutes. Rendering frames is taking, currently, about 30 seconds each!
i’m happy it’s 2010. the start of the year always brings so much promise and opportunity. it is a great time to dream about awesome things to come and to be accomplished! and then you wake up and it’s already christmas again and you wasted the whole fucking year again. :-\

“The Anguish of von Burgess” was my student film for Film class 311, at Cal State University, Fullerton.
One idea of the ever-shrewd german, Greig von Grieg, was to film a commercial promoting horse jockey, Pesky von Bloch, and his daring endeavor to compete in Saturday’s horse race.
i am going to say something that i habitually do not – except in those rarest of emergencies whereby there’s a shot at some make-up sex (usually with myself) – - – i’m sorry.
for those of you coming to catheads.net to see drawings of rabbits, you’re in luck! i have a few of those.
for everyone else, here’s a new cathead.
this is my first blender 3d tutorial so if something is not clear, let me know! thanks
this dark, seedy place, rife with corruption, greed and prostitution, hosts some of the greatest and darkest thoughts ever perpetuated against man. and i’m just talking about my home office.
i am a novice at creating 3d art. i love the format and the ability to have the software for free. i REALLY love the “free” part.
but where to begin? what to mold? sometimes, some guidance is essential.
feeling overwhelmed? go stretch your legs. get yourself some fresh air. i know a few “experts” who will say a brisk walk can have overwhelming effects on your attitude so you can make positive changes in your life.
had this concept in my brain BEFORE i remembered mother’s day was this weekend. it is merely a coincidence that the green monster should appear this sunday – strangely, the same sunday i purposely am NOT celebrating mother’s day.
if someone told me i would be awakened sunday morning at 7:45am by some crazy person out on the street whooping, shouting strange things and clanging a cowbell, i would have said that better not happen because i want to sleep in. and i mean it!
happy easter
last year, i drew this on the front of a holiday greetings card for my friend, miss jones, while in quite an irreverent mood. i did not receive a card in return.
ok it was not easy, but bobi doesn’t just live. he WALKS!!
so for those of you who were thinking, “bobi cannot kill me because he cannot walk to my house, sneak through the window, climb into my ear and eat my brain”, you were SOOOO wrong!! XD i feel sorry for you!
My first digital painting using photoshop.
