January was awfully cold this year in California. Our lows were dipping into the high 20′s F. It would have been sweet of me to move my garden indoors, but… well, you know me too well. 
The strawberry plants have been incredible and so far, a success. I started with one plant and let it have children (all by itself) and those plants have grown up to be just as wonderful and sweet as the person who bought the original plant.
Oh, with the changing of seasons,
of what I look forward to
and what has passed into memory,
all moving rather quickly,
as if swept by, by an enormous invisible broom.
Experimenting with water color – a great thing to do at a table by a sunny window.
A few days of rain and foul weather throughout April bogged down my plants and seeds, but overall, the majority of items have come along nicely.. finally!
Spring is here and this year I promised to try growing a few different things in my garden. Basil and oregano are staples, but I’ve added strawberries, garlic and lemon balm (whatever that is).

Not exactly what you tune in to see when you dial up catheads.net, but I kinda always liked the way these pictures turned out.
I used to go to wildlife preserves or random trails to track down birds for photographing. Then I realized if I put a birdfeeder in my backyard, the birds would come to me. I don’t get a wide variety, but I still like what I see.
I have made a concerted effort to study animation lately, and by that, I mean the specifics of body weight, personality, movement and the dreaded lip syncing!
In search of birds, and preferably the larger kind like herons and egrets, I visited the San Juaqin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine on Sunday, at about midday.
