Something a little different this time. Thanks to some of my opponents, I’ve been witness to an all-you-can-eat buffet of pretty amazing words when playing Zynga’s “Words with Friends”. You know the kind of words I’m talking about, right? Things like “beton”, “modi” and “feria”. I’ve lost many a game to such skilled minds.
Highs and lows come and go, but for creative people who doubt their ability, stewing in a creative low can quickly become a prison. Since November, I’ve basically stopped all work and been on holiday in my mind. Honestly, I can sit in a quiet room and not one interesting thought will show itself. It’s just blank. That can’t be good.
A free book exists on the internet, written by Stephan Vladimir Bugaj, regarding the 22 Rules of Story, as originally tweeted by Emma Coats. Who are these people, you ask? They’re the people getting the job done and you should be interested if you want to get the job done yourself!
Walt Disney knew how to put small animals to work and amazingly, the animals never seemed to mind. The birds and mice in Cinderella do half of her chores for her, and they do it with a smile. I can barely get my cats to cover their own poop in the litterbox! I’m not joking. 🙁
I’m not worried yet. Three months in to the new year, with a December deadline quickly approaching, I still do not have any animation to show. That’s okay. I planned it this way.
Pre-production has been long and arduous, and hopefully well worth the time. However, I feel like I should have had more accomplished by today. So what can I do about it?
