Are you like me? Do you work feverishly on something, day in and day out until it’s done before starting the next project? Yes? Then you’re NOTHING like me! Come look at the mess I’m making.
There is so much I want to accomplish, and so many stories I want to tell. It finally occurred to me that the reason I get so little done in a year is because the majority of my free time is on the weekend. And there are only 52 weekends in the year, as you already know, dear reader. I can tell there is no fooling you!
But let’s say I am “out to lunch” on a handful of the weekends, and maybe I am “sick” on a few more (actually, I am taking antibiotics currently for a sore throat that the doctor never officially said was strep throat, but he also never said it WASN’T) and the fatigue prevents me from focusing. Then I’m down to like 25 weekends in the year that I can commit to my projects.
My other excuse is that I get bored easily. Whatever. I know what I’m doing. You demand entertainment and I shall deliver!
So here is a small list of projects I am actively pursuing:
Pool with a Rabbit

A story I turned into a picture book circa 1994 about a very awful man playing a game of pool with a rabbit. And the rabbit has a rather serious disadvantage. I’ve had to scan all pages into the computer and recolor them, as the originals were colored with pencils and the scan looked pretty bad.
Untitled Flash Animation –

I started this project so I could practice some animation techniques using Flash and my Wacom tablet. Basically, what started out as a simple finger exercise has turned into something longer than I expected. So we’ll see.
Chicken and Cows

Actually, here’s a project I started in Flash a few years ago using shapes to build the characters instead of hand-drawing them. It was becoming a real pain in the ass, so I stopped. Here’s what that unfinished project looked like:
Now I’m giving it a shot using Blender and am really liking the results, though it remains a pain in the ass to produce!
Untitled Project for these three characters

I don’t know what else to say about this except, generally speaking, I am very easy to please. But once in awhile, I cannot even please myself and I hate everything I do. Fleshing out these characters has been a process I won’t describe, but I believe it will be great fun to see them in action.
Little Girl by the Sea – No Image Available.. Characters being constructed
Here’s a character study I’ve been wanting to produce for quite some time. A little girl sits alone on a seaside bench. A strange man come along and sits beside her. What are his intentions? What is her response? How creepy can this get? It may or may not be as troubling as you think.
Anyway, we can only hope that April is filled with lots of opportunities and free time so I can continue creating goodies for you and your friends.
Cheers,
The new work all looks beautiful… but my favorite is absolutely Pool with a rabbit. It looks like a drawing right out of an old children’s book. Really gorgeous
Thanks Mark! I like the style of “Pool with a Rabbit” very much and think, at the moment, hand drawing the pictures with digital coloring / texturing, will look better than the digital painting in “Tiffany’s Ticket”. They remind me of the illustrations in the A.A. Milne “Pooh” books, which I adore. But I consistently waver between which style I actually prefer..
Winnie the Pooh is definitely what I first thought of
