I’ve had Twitter on my mind over the past month or so, both in terms of tweeting my random, inane thoughts directly on twitter and using it as a promotional tool for this blog on. The random, inane thoughts part works like a charm!
The latter needs a few tweaks.
Linking things (this site with twitter with facebook) at the click of a button seems like the common sense way to go. This is not based on laziness, but on simplicity and because somebody wrote a script that allows it. I mean, what is the easiest and most efficient way of doing three things at once? Install a plugin!
But when the plugin doesn’t work, mostly due to user error and impatience, and having a million different plugins to choose from anyway, it’s easy to give up trying to understand it all and draw a picture of a twitter bird instead.
Look, I’m pretty smart. I know a good thing when I see it. And things should work as advertised. At the same time, things should not be so easy for humans. I think when answers are always handed to you, and your road is paved with gold while you sit and drink an iced tea and wait, a sense of laziness and entitlement is created and those things don’t exactly challenge a person to be their absolute best.
So, screw the twitter plugins. I like doing things the hard way.
Use the RSS feed and also enjoy my independent twitter feed on occasion where I rail against republicans and teabaggers and we’ll go from there.
Cheers,
